A Gemstone Engagement Ring – Don’t Mind if I Do
Posted by Lazlo Jewelers on 22nd May 2024
You’re not a traditional bride, you are doing it all different. You are having a small church wedding with ten people and your dress is a ¾ length blue colour. Well, something like this! Anyway, we don’t have to be the same as everyone else. We CAN be different. Its 2024, and brides are really choosing to do things the traditional way but in their own way. There is an increase over the years of ladies preferring a gem stone over a diamond, and we are all about it, because you can get the most beautiful Gems. Here are our top pics for those discerning their engagement.
1 – Morganite
This stone is probably the most sought after, after the Diamond. You can get a morganite with different hues. It can be a very light pink to more of a pink peach colour. If you are buying this type, we don’t recommend that you buy online unless the company has lifestyle images. It can happen that the stones can be different when shipped out or the company sells many of the same ring. We try to sell one of each ring and try our best not to get two of the same.
2 – Sapphire
Sapphires are a symbol of royalty and princess Katherine, choose exactly this stone from Dianas ring collection. The sapphire stone is perfect and will certainly be a lifetime investment. It is cheaper than a diamond and can be your something blue on your big day. The stone is measured the same as a Diamond and the cut, colour and clarity should be taken into account. It is good to get a GIA certification when you are looking for one. One should choose it based on the colour they like. If you are looking online, be careful not to be deceived as a sapphire stone is heavier than a diamond, so a 1ct Sapphire will look smaller than a 1ct Diamond.
3 – Tanzanite
The Tanzanite stone is the most beautiful stone and features a wonderful blue and purple hues. We have a fabulous one by Vera Wang. The stone just stands out from the crowd and is perfect for the bride who wants something different and hardwearing. The stone has hard wearing properties making it perfect for everyday wear.
4 – Emerald
The Emerald stone is just a beautiful vibrant stone. The stone is measured based on cut, colour and clarity and it is recommended that a GIA certification is available with the purchase. The Emerald stone is heavier that a diamond, so a 1ct diamond will be bigger than a 1ct Emerald. The Emerald stone is a softer stone, so the wearer needs to be aware that it is more inclined to scratches and other issues. It is important to look after your emerald stone. This Gem stone is better for dress wear verses daily wear; however, it is not uncommon that someone would wear an Emerald daily.
5 – Amethyst
The Amethyst is a beautiful stone. It has average hardness, meaning that it can be worn daily but you must be careful not to hit it of anything. It is seriously vibrant and the purple hue stone is magnificent. The stones worth is not in the 4 Cs but actually in the colour of the stone. If the stone has red hues, it will be more expensive and it will be more sought after by collectors.
The question remains, which one would you wear? Drop into us here at Lazlo Jewellers for a comprhensive overview of each stone.
